If somebody winks at you does it always mean they're flirting or are they just being friendly?

i have just started work at a new job. i am quite young but the manager is also fairly young and only a few years older than me. when i first met him he winked at me. then i worked with him for a few days and he was friendly but didnt wink at me at all. then a couple of days later he started winking at me again. is he just being friendly and trying to help me settle in and feel welcome, or is he flirting with me?

If somebody winks at you does it always mean they're flirting or are they just being friendly?
his just a winker
Reply:It sounds as if he's just trying to make you feel welcome. People do wink for reasons other than flirting. I wouldn't wink back though. I would wait and see what happens over the coming weeks. If he makes you feel uncomfortable, touches you and makes personal comments - that would be sexual harassment.
Reply:probably flirting although since i don't know is personality it maybe his way of helping you settle in. if more signs show up then you'll know.
Reply:Some guys wink at everybody. It's there way of being charming. They don't understand that it could be misunderstood as flirting and shouldn't be used in the workplace. Wait for some other signs before deciding what he intends.

Caution: Don't date in the workplace. Things get way too awkward and you could potentially lose your job when eventually you break up.
Reply:well the only time i have ever winked at some 1 was wen i ws flirting with thim i dont think i have ever winked to be friendly but i suppose it can happen
Reply:no it means that person wants to bang you hard
Reply:some guys are just naturally big flirts.

this one guy in my english class does it to everyone.

its the cutest thing ever, but i dont take it to mean that he likes me or anything, it's just the way he is. =P
Reply:When I was in college, I went home during a vacation time with a friend of mine. There, in his home town, I met the young woman who would later become his wife. We liked each other, as friends I mean. She was very attractive. Anyway, she would occasionally wink at me. After I went back to college, we kept in contact by writing to each other. My friend and she started a very rocky relationship, but I remained friends with both. When graduation came, she wrote that she "couldn't wait to see" me, and other such enthusiastic comments. And I still remembered those winks . . . I wanted her for myself.

It all came to nothing. Maybe she saw me as a backup, in case things didn't work with my friend. Maybe she just saw me as a very good friend. Maybe she was flirting with me. Maybe she was just being friendly. Alas, I will never know. All this took place over 20 years ago. But I still remember her winks.
Reply:dont know just flirting I guess!
Reply:if he didnt wink while you worked with him and he didnt make any other remarks, then i would say that the guy is trying his best to make you feel welcome, to help you settle in
Reply:Not all winking is flirting. I wink at friends, but that doesnt mean I am looking to hook up with them. There are a lot of factors you need to take into considerate. The first is that this is your boss and he isnt going to risk his job or yours over a wink. My advice, treat him like a friend and dont wink back.
Reply:have you never considered he might have a 'squint' mate! have a good one and watch out for the winkers 2nite! LOL!
Reply:I'd say he's pushing his luck a bit and basically yeah sounds like he's trying to flirt with you in a very crude way. Just ignore him as I suspect he thinks he's gods-gift and will eventually get the message - especially when he gets fired for sexual harrassment.
Reply:The casual winker is not a common breed, but does exsist. You should consider all of his behavior toward you, not just the winking. If he is flirtatious + winking probably means he's flirting, but winking + friendly just means friendly. Besides, I don't think winking is a very good way of flirting anymore anyway. Seems a little cheesey to me.
Reply:might be that he just nice or he is flirting you u..See if he does it with other employees,
